Company History

From the start, Sionic has been at the forefront of the mobile payments revolution. Beginning in 2010, we pioneered authenticated digital checkouts, working with payment processors to bring our technology to a pilot program for a major airport concessionaire before mobile payments were even mainstream.

As the industry evolved and digital payments gained more traction, we didn’t just facilitate payments—we enhanced them. We worked directly with merchants of all types and sizes to develop payment-adjacent services like loyalty and rewards programs, driving deeper consumer engagement and usage. Our early adoption of QR code payments streamlined the checkout experience, and every step of the way, we continued to fortify our systems with substantial security and fraud detection protocols.

Fast forward fifteen years, Sionic has transitioned from being an early leader in digital and eGift card transactions at the point of sale, whether in-store or online, to launching Instant Bank Pay as the future of real-time consumer to merchant payments. All the learnings from our past, enabling merchants to accept mobile payments, are brought forward in Instant Bank Pay, creating an exceptional user experience that utilizes industry-proven protocols and is more secure and rewarding.
